When I gaze off to the horizon contemplating a new painting it is inspiring and breathtaking, even though I might have to look a bit more intrepidly than our curious fore-bearers. The industrial and urban sprawl that makes me travel farther for a beautiful view also allows me to have the manufacturing, transportation and technology to have a camera to capture all those delicious visual moments to incubate in my studio into a painting that stirs my memories and emotions with grace and gratitude, magic and music, color and texture. I’m in awe of my child growing into adulthood, I’m enjoying the seasonal changes, and my calendar thankfully is still spinning. I have come home to myself as an artist, and I wrap my arms around all that I love. – Alison Haley Paul
